About The Wooden Spool

Growing up, many of the women in my family sewed and quilted. I can remember being young at my grandmother’s house, sitting with her as she hand-stitched quilts and crocheted. As I got older, I took up sewing and needleworking. In the last ten years, I’ve taken up quilting and have really fallen in love with it in the past four years. When the opportunity arose to own a store built in the 1920s in Sealy, TX that had been home to a quilt store known as Creative Threads for ten years I jumped at the chance, it was the perfect opportunity to combine my lifelong passion for sewing and quilting and pay homage to generations of women in my family.

My hope is that the Wooden Spool becomes a place where quilters and crafters of any level can be welcome. We’re working towards offering sewing classes, sew-alongs, and “sip and sew” events. The prior owners of the Wooden Spool created a store where people felt welcomed and excited to quilt, sew, and do needlework. Although things will change, I’m looking forward to continuing the tradition of a place for creators and crafters!
I hope to see you soon,

Jennifer Arguijo
